AI탭은 답변할 내용을 고를 때 이용자의 과거 서비스 이용내역과 성별, 연령대, 관심사 등의 정보를 활용해 관련성 높은 검색 결과를 제공한다. 이를 위해 네이버는 이용자의 검색 서비스 이용기록에 더해 블로그·카페 글에 대한 활동 기록, 쇼핑 이력 등 네이버 서비스의 이용내역 데이터를 개인화된 답변 생성에 활용하고자 했다.

개인정보위는 협의사항 이행을 전제로 네이버가 AI탭 서비스를 적법하게 운영할 수 있다고 의결했다. 먼저 개인화된 답변을 원치 않는 이용자를 위해 데이터 활용 거부 옵션이 있다고 알리고 이용자 피드백을 검토해 사후 통제권 보장 방안을 보완하도록 했다.

아울러 개인정보 처리방침 등을 통해 AI탭 서비스에 이용되는 맞춤 정보의 항목과 주요 내용 등을 공개하고 개인정보 오남용과 유출 방지를 위한 추가적 안전 조치를 하도록 했다.

이용자의 네이버 서비스 이용내역을 분석하는 과정에서 개인정보 보호법상 민감정보(정치적 견해, 건강 등)가 이용되지 않는 동시에 고유식별정보·계좌번호·신용카드 정보 등이 AI 에이전트의 답변 내용에 포함되지 않도록 했다.
